How many LEO's, Firefighter's, EMT's...?

20 years as a Volunteer, serving 18 as a Lieutenant.
Fire / Rescue Company. Served on the local HazMat team in the early beginnings.
It was a great run but after 20 for various reasons I had,had enough.
Still miss it and when I see the Engines roll I get the itch to be back on board.

I started in the mid '80s as a paramedic. Worked the same area as JM4151. ("Pepperoni or hollowpoints?") Went to the police academy in '92 and have been with the same municipal department since '93. I can check all the cool boxes for assignments and I am now a patrol sergeant.

I just retired in June after 35 years with Denver PD. I spent 9 years of it in the DUI Unit and the last 16 1/2 at Denver International Airport, 12 of that as a training officer and corporal. It was fun, especially working airside, but I'm glad to be done. Heading to AZ in a couple days...

Good for you!!! Enjoy your well earned retirement. I'm retiring in January after spending 36 years, 6 months, 6 days as a Constable with the Toronto Police Service (Ontario, Canada). I'm heading to Florida next week for 3 weeks to look for my new winter home. I've had enough of winter/snow, can't get away fast enough.....

I started out with 8 years in the AF Security Police, all in SAC. Then off to AZ where I've been a Deputy Sheriff for 21+ years. I did the detective thing for a short time, much too cerebral for my skill set. ("a man's got to know his limitations".) Did Motors for a few years, Kawasaki and Harley. It was a blast while it lasted..... second best job ever. For the past 12 years it's been boats, airboats, quads, 4 wheel drives, and lately horses.... the best job ever. I'm looking forward to retirement now, probably in the southeast somewhere. Funny, all you guys retiring to AZ and I'm looking forward to going somewhere else for retirement. :D

14 yrs. 8 months & 27 days total. Less than 2 yrs. municipal time, the remainder as deputy sheriff - worked it all at one time or other, got fairly proficient at "buckin' the system" along the way (never did learn to tolerate 'stupid' very well). Left May '87 to go full-time dealing antique guns, still at it...

Still walkin' into the wind, too...

Worked for the NYSP and retired after serving 25 years in 2008. It was a great job, loved it my entire career. I specialized in highway safety, worked my way up from Trooper to Staff Inspector (odd rank we have just below LT Col). Retired & now work for the federal government and loving my second career.

Eight years as an EMT in the '80's. Twenty one as a Respiratory Therapist.

Two more re-cert cycles & I'll be an EX heath care worker!:D

I was all three rolled into one position for 27 years as a NPS Ranger: Type I Commissioned Law Enforcement Officer, EMT-Basic, and Wildland Firefighter. Best posting I had was working inside the Grand Canyon for nine years in the 1990's. I retired a month ago, and miss the "good old days," working with some very talented and dedicated rangers in the "Ditch."

Started as a Reserve Officer in June of 1974. Made it to Lt. Then retired in July 2006. Back issues made it end. Uniform still fits miss going to work still. Loved it.

Can't say much online due to my job, but 4 years as a volunteer Red Cross first response unit - had a police radio, went to accident sites when called out, as we had no EMT / Paramedic services, then time (8 years) as a judicial officer with a corresponding National Guard commission (the old days, when state police and judiciary were both, just in case, made martial law easier if it had to happen).

34 years on the job...5 yrs large Metro PD, 5 yrs Highway patrol, 24 years federal LEO - twenty of that as a SWAT operator/ tm commander / supervisory F/A instructor / use of force instructor / armorer. Retired 2008....private security/military contractor (protective details) until 2014...retired again.
