Recently ordered a copy of R. L. Wilson's "Book of Colt Firearms" which I've been told by many is the equivalent to Supica's S&W Catalogue.

Years ago I promised myself I would not start collecting anything else until I finished my S&W collection, but of course, that will never be finished.

Anyone collect Colts or Rugers too? Colts intrigue me. I'd love to have everything from a Peacemaker and an M1892 to a Detective Special, Police Positive Special, Official Police, Python, Diamondback, etc.... :)

Rugers not so much. I don't know what it is, but Rugers have never seemed as interesting to me as Colts and Smiths.

I feel like if I start getting into Colts too that will be the beginning of the end for me! ;)

I collect shooters....or shoot my collection.

Some features intrigue me in many different marques.

So many guns.....so little time.

La la, off to the speed steel challenge!

I probably have almost as many Colts as I do Smith's, but then they have been in business so long they have so many interesting and historical models to collect. I just love their 1903 / 1908 Pocket Models, and even though I would never use it for self defense, their .25 ACP model 1908 is a must have. You have to have a few .45 Auto's, and their Single Action Army models are classic.

As for Ruger, they are not for me. When I think of a Ruger I thnk of a big ugly, bulky gun. Now don't flame me on this guys..............I know they work just fine, and they are inexpensive compared to Colt's and Smith's, and I would venture to say most of the people on his Forum own a few, just saying they do not appeal to me.

As for a double action revolver (IMHO) NOTHING beats a Smith (the older ones anyway)!!

I have Colts, Smiths, High Standards, Webley, Remington Rand, Browning in the collection, mostly military pistols.

I'm not really a collector.........more of an accumulator. That said I have a variety of S&W, Colt, & Ruger handguns with some other makes thrown in (Browning, Walther, Glock etc...) :)

I have a couple of Pythons, an Anaconda, and plans for .38 and .22 Diamondbacks. Probably won't complete the "snake set" because of the highly priced Boa. Maybe a Trooper Mk III if I can find the right one. My Rugers are nice utility pieces. The Super Blackhawk and Redhawk have many more rounds through them than my M29's and Anaconda. Same with the Security Six vs. the Pythons, M27, M19, etc. But I don't have an LCR to spare the wear on my 340PD.

I like Colt revolvers, With old Official Police Models and Army Specials In .41 Colt being my favorites. Here is a cut barrel .38 Official Police I got off Gunbroker a few weeks back.

Unless you're in a corner suite at Goldman Sachs, Colt anythings are very pricey. When I was a kid all kinds of stuff was available to people of moderate means. Now guns cost what cars used to. Heck, a box of ammo costs more than a decent GI 1911 did.

I've been very lucky to have seen, handled, and occasionally shot some primo pieces. I suppose it would be nice to own them all, but the truth is I can't, and even they they're really just on loan to us for a while anyway.

I used to scheme how to find and afford a North American 1911, but every time one surfaced the asking price had gone up far faster than my earnings. I saw one at Cody a few years ago and I can be content with that.

Otherwise I've enjoyed some neat guns and had fun with what God let me have.

I have a Colt-King Officers Model Target and two Officer's model Match revolvers. Lots of Rugers three of which are Clark conversions. I like a bit of everything, but mostly target pistols.

What he said. ^^

With 65 pistols in the safe only 42 are S&W's. I do have several Colts but the other dozen are an array of Browning Highpowers, PPK's, Freedom Arms, USFA, SIG's, HK's and a Springfield Armory 1911A1.

I envy those of you with a "direction" to your S&W collection. I have an ARRAY or Smiths instead. Though I do have a pretty solid display of both Kit Guns and K frame Combat Masterpieces.

My buying over the years has been mostly models that I WANTED when I was younger...but could ill afford. Still looking for a 6" blued Python , a 70 Series Gold Cup and several others.
Happy to report that I DID fill a niche last week at the Reno Gun Show...found an affordable 70 Series Colt Commander, a steel frame brushed nickle .45 acp like the one I foolishly had Armalloyed in the mid 70's. So I AM SLOWLY getting all my dream guns.

Or I have a K-22/K-38, 4" M19/66 that are shooters, then I find a NIB, or LNIB K22/K38 , M19/66 and buy it simply to have a like new moodel in the safe.

So my "collection" does have somewhat of a direction to it I guess.

I also collect shooters. I have mostly S&Ws, followed by Rugers, Colts, a Webley MK V, a Browning HP, a USFA SAA, and a Uberti. I've also owned a NAA and a few foreign pistols. Plus a few black powder handguns.

+1 to below. i generally buy what i like and only quality. not saying HK or beretta handguns are not quality, they dont appeal to me. i collect smith revolvers but i could care less about their autos. colt 1911, but their revos dont do anything for me. unless i find a 4 inch .22 d-back or 3 inch python.

ruger single actions, but not their autos. remington 700 and 870s but not much else in their line. browning shotguns, but not their rifles.

know what i mean?

I like S&Ws, Colts & Winchesters. I never considered myself a collector, just bought what turned me on if they were a deal. Someone said something about guns being high and a box of ammo costing what a gun used to cost. The other day I put $63 worth of gas in my pickup. The thought hit me that was about what I paid apice for my first four`vehicles in the 50s. Now those would be worth a mint too, had I had a place to store them!
I bought my first brand new gun in the last 30 years a couple weeks ago. A taurus puma 92 357 mag.

If I could afford it...I'd only collect USFA's guns. They are currently the best made production handguns ever made. That . was meant to denote period...:)

What's a Ruger ?:D
