I just won my third Shield tonight on Gunbroker!
$365 for a 9mm.
That will make 2 Shield 9s for me.
A few reasons:
I really enjoy shooting it, will have a back-up, a second one for a friend to shoot too and will have one with the newer generation barrel.
I also have a Shield 40 with only 40 rounds through but was pleasantly surprised with it's shootability.
I never thought my number of M&Ps would exceed my number of Glocks but as soon as this new one arrives, it will! By one.

If my Wife ever fell out of love with her G26, we'd have two Shields, but since she doesn't like my Shield more than her G26, 1 Shield is all we need (right now) and 2 would be too many. :(

Kind of like children, 1 of each is just right. But if I had an extra one of either flavor I would not be disappointed.

Somebody has to say it...one is too many...:D
Compacts forever. Ha ha ha!
In all seriousness, more than one of any type gun is hard to justify unless you're shooting with both hands or shooting competition. There's two types of people: those with enough guns that know how to use them and those who can never have enough guns and therefore never will.

I have 3 now (all 9's) One for my son (he's 11 now) One for my daughter (she's 18 and hers is gunkoted in FDE) and mine I just got last Friday (will be gunkoted in OD Green within the month)

Going to the range with the kids is a lot more fun than Cedar Point.

Hey, now there's a good idea on how to individualize the Shields. Please post pics!

Congrat's ! I am going to pick up my second Shield tomorrow, this time in 9mm. Great gun and it has made me fall out of love with my Glock 21, but its still in my night stand lockbox just in case its called to duty.

Roger, Only 40 rounds through your 40?? You need to get out and shoot them. :)

Wassup with that?
No, you are absolutely right.
Well, I'll admit it. I was scaredy cat because of all the KaBoom threads the last few months. But, we all seem to agree. No reloads, no hot hot ammo and you're good to go.
Glad I went for it.
What a great gun that Shield 40 is!

Roger S&W,

Here is my daughters Shield. Mine will be the same effect in OD Green but will not get it back for a month they say.

I'm not knocking anyone for owning more than one of any model gun, but for me at least, I would prefer to have something different. There are just too many different models of guns out there to try and buying 2 or 3 of the same model would just limit how many other models I could buy.
The Shield is a great little gun, I have one. But for me at least, I would rather buy something that I don't already have. So many guns out there to try, but so little money.

I was charged $227 for Gunkote-ing Frame and 3 magazines (2 with extensions)

Included: Teardown, Maksing all stippled areas on frame and magazines, coating and reassembly.

Many folks out there doing this gunkoting. I am sure prices will vary.

I'm with those saying that one is too many. I don't know, but I see no reason for it. It's just too small for me.

However, this...

...is faulty logic in my mind.

Unless your gun is truly a toy (read, never shot anywhere, but the range) or a collectors item, a back up is necessary. Especially if you use it for carry. Why? If you need to have work done on your gun for any reason, you're out of commission until it's done. For carry/competition, your back up should be as close to the same as the main gun as you can get.

So, if you're a Shield fan (I'm not), and you carry it (what it was designed for) you should have at least two in my mind.

Cedarpoint < Range time with the kids???

I agree having 3 9's for the family and range time with them is awesome ... but I just can't agree that range time ever beats CedarPoint on a nice May day ... :):D:cool:

I speak from many years of coaster chasing across the US, CedarPoint is IMHO the best coaster thrill ride park in the US. Even though I live in Florida, I make a pilgrimage to Sandusky OH every couple of years.

Charlie,

Not dissin' Cedar Point.....but even at todays prices for ammo, the range is cheaper, no lines, no hotels, no crowds.

Besides...now that the kids are a bit older, they seem to like the range time to challenge their skills.

I am sure we will be going to places like Cedar Point in the future.... I was just sayin'.
