How Much for Ammo is TOO MUCH?

I just attempted to order five authorized boxes of 5.56 from Midway, $45 for the ammo and almost $20 bucks for the UPS truck....bumped 45 cents to $.65 cents a round and the "forget it" button for me.

But i guess if it ever boiled down to it. I dont mind finding another insurance company. But as stated, ive never had it happen and i dont recall ever hearing of it happen by any of my neighbors, relatives or friends.

finding another insurance company may be difficult
as you now carry "baggage" which the new insurance company will certainly find
doing their due diligence search of a prospective customer.

I got 10 boxes + $18 shipping and I know I'd spend more than that for fuel in my F150 looking around for it.
Ammo can't be had around me at any price!!
Excessive shipping costs have prevented me from buying lots of stuff.

I have been finding good deals on Gunbot.net. Also Cabela's, $5 shipping if you have their Cabela's Club Visa.;)

I have it shipped to one of their stores which is 10 miles away, for free.

No ammo on their shelves, tho. At least below .60 rd for brass 5.56.

I've got a batch comin at the end of the month and while I'm there, I check the shelves, too. Since last Oct, bare.

After cancelling the ammo at Midway I checked my local Bi mart...they have normally had ammo at non gouge prices. Bought two 100 packs of American Eagle 5.56 and a brick of American Eagle .22 lr. $22. Bucks for the brick was a little more than normal but .42 cents for the .223 was acceptable to me. They also had plain white box of Federal 20 round for about eight fifty and a stack of 100 rd Mini Mag.

The cheapest 223 i've found is 50cents, too. I've been shooting only 22 ammo lately. Bought a 22 revolver, 15-22, ar-15 conversion bolt to 22, all recently so it's alot of fun even though it's just a 22 round.

I've been in stores that only have 1000rd 556 in a case for sale and they wanted $1100! Crazy!

Was it your burfday? or Christmas in July??

I've found some @ .46 (5.56, brass) but the bulk I've bought lately has been .50 or greater. 500rds of greens cost me .60, delivered a couple of weeks ago. I'll be saving most of those for the coming Zombie attack. I keep 3, 30rd green mags on the top shelf of my safe. Hehehehe

The link right above is a good deal but I'm loaded up until my next range visit.

Ammo is way too high right now but for the last 2 weeks I have been trying to trade 4,000 rounds of 5.56/.223 ammo for a decent brand of .308 AR-10 rifle with almost no response. All of this ammo is good quality brass with it being like a ratio of 70% 5.56 and 30% .223. I live in NW Arkansas and there is no place to purchase brass 5.56/.223 less than 50 cents a round here so I would have thought I would receive some interest.

ammo prices

as far as 22lr's I only bend over as far as 36-40$ for a 500+ count brick. (that used to go for less than 20$). the rest I reload myself and understand peoples reluctance to buy someone elses reloads.

You can buy that TulAmmo .223 junk at WalMart for $.27/round when they have it, they also regularly get federal for .34/rd which is brass. They have a 3 box limit which sucks, but it's there sometimes

No .34 federal anymore.....Its .41 a round now....:(
