Frankly; I don't think there are any pre-29 "Shooters" left. You might find a few pre-29s that can be shot without harming their "Collector Value" but it's my opinion that any pre-29 is a "Collector" gun and will command the higher prices. Kind of like looking for a "Shooter Grade" Registered or even a non-Registered Magnum and looking to pay the price for one of these that you'd expect to pay for a later Model 27.
I think ALL pre Model number guns have gone up in value and most if not all the "N" Frames have been elevated to the Collector Class and the prices reflect this state of affairs.
That being said; there are a few folks out there who are ignorant about what the current values are and you might get lucky. Carry a nice pocket full of Ben Franklins and keep your eyes open.
