That is a true beauty!

I cannot help you on price , but I am sure some of the resident experts will be along to help you out on a value.

I wonder if this was a factory job?

Sure looks nice. Hope you are able to aquire it.

Twig.

Welcome! More information (detail photos, who did the engraving if known) are needed for a value estimate. A factory engraved gun with these features would be worth most; a well-known engraver would be next, and if not known the least.

I am sure it was not shipped as a factory engraved 44 Magnum as it has the large S&W logo on the side plate. The gold work looks like that of Alvin White, but I cannot say for sure from the photo.

I would estimate the value at $5000 to $7000 (without knowing more about it).

Bill, What do make of the grips?

I believe the stocks were carved by the engraver at the time the 44 Magnum was engraved. Many engravers worked in different media such as wood, ivory, etc.

They asked 2750€ for it but I dont know who did the engraving but I will soon visit the shop back and ask it.
Here are some more pictures:

Based on the new photos, the engraving and inlays are not the work of Alvin White. The engraving has a German style about it so it may have been done in Europe or by one of the German engravers in the U.S.

Do you know how old the 29 is? I know it is 1962 or later.

I think the value is $4000 to $5000 (based on the new photos).
