How the younger generation view cash.

I buy most things with a cc and get rewards. Last month $1100 from Costco and about $400 last fall. I see at least 10 transactions a year that I get receipts for that don't make it to my statement. I get the items but no one gets paid. Stores chalk it up to just doing business I guess.
I saw something interesting in Chile and Argentina last year. No printed menus in restaurants. The prices change too fast. You down load a menu from a QR code at the table. Some locations did have a white board with todays menu specials on it.

I too like the idea of the CC company paying me to use their card.:D

I check my statements carefully and never did not see everything I did showing on my statement.

Yeah, that is the RIGHT way to use credit cards. Find one that gives you the HIGHEST percentage as cash back, then use it for everything you can. Gas, groceries, retail purchases, EVERYTHING.

BUT you have to make sure you don't charge anything you can't pay off at the end of the month. Because as long as you pay off the credit card bill in full every month, you don't pay them ANY interest.

So the result is that you keep YOUR money in the bank EARNING interest, and you get to use THEIR money for free for up to 30 days at a time. And then the frosting on the cake is they pay YOU "rewards" for it.

We've been doing this since the late 1980's. We've earned at least a couple of thousand bucks in rewards for using our credit cards this way EVERY year for over 3-1/2 DECADES.

If you do the math that's somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 THOUSAND dollars. And that is money in OUR accounts - not the credit card companies accounts.

A couple of thousand here and a couple of thousand there, year after year, and before you know it, it adds up to some real money...

If you manage your money wisely, you can basically game the system to YOUR advantage - rather than becoming a slave to the debt system.

Just my experience and YMMV.

If you use a money tracking system we make sure we enter it in a register and track it in the account we pay the credit card from. The running total should equal the cc bill.

Gnu Cash is a free program out of Germany that beats Quicken all to pieces IMO, if you just want to enter transactions and not let your computer auto download.

Why can't I find one of those parking lots?

I'm aware of a Yankee Gov't owned office building/parking lot in north St. Louis County. My brother is a systems architect with gov't clients in that building. Over the course of a year, he collected a 16 ounce red Solo cup full of spent bullets. They used to have a monthly contest . . .

One Leftist cartoonist's take on the subject . . .

Golddollar....It ain't all change from parking lots It's all the change I receive. I looked in the closet just a bit ago. Have 8 quart jars of pennies nickles dimes and quarters in there. My wife bless her little pea picking heart saves all the bills I may leave in shirts and pants. She lets me know when I leave a 5. I don't let her know I scarf a few when I need 'em. Oh and the 50 cent pieces and dollar coins go into a coffee can! It's time to take the jars to the bank I took 2 50 cal ammo cans last time. It all adds up. They count 'em and put the money in my account..
have to add...you can get over a 1000 dollars in quarters in a 50 ammo can

I took a bunch of coins to the bank in 50 cal ammo cans. I had called first to be sure they could accommodate lots of coins. I told them about when I'd be coming by and that I'd be bringing in ammo cans. For "some reason" the manager met me at the door. I'm sure he wasn't just being pleasant. Could be something about a scruffy looking guy lugging in heavy ammo cans . . . .

I also pick up money in parking lots.
Unfortunately, not enough to pay Property Taxes!
When I pass money to my Grandkids, they say ‘Thanks Grandpa!’
They don’t seem to have any problem spending it!

Last night I was having supper at the local Eagles Aerie. I had with me a roll of half dollars in addition to my Golden Dollars. I like to stand the coins on edge that I leave on the bar for tips. I had left 4 half dollars and 2 Golden Dollars. The barmaid asked me if she could trade me for another 2 half dollars so she could put them in Easter eggs for all her kids. I said OK so she got a dollar bill and I gave her another 2 half dollars.
