If you really want a 325NG, may I suggest something 7/8" longer OAL and 1.8 oz heavier? Two years ago, when the 325NG was still available from stock, it was more than my suggestion by $300, too. I'm talking about the S&W Governor. It and the 325NG share many traits, from the Al/Sc alloy frame, SS cylinder and barrel liner, Tritium Night Sight on front and fixed notch rear sight, and the same six slot moonclipped .45 ACPs as will fit the 325 & 625. Of course, the Governor will chamber and fire .45 Colts, .45 Schofields, and 2.5" .410 shot shells, too. S&W has had holsters for it since the first week I had mine, over two years ago. Definitely not a pocket gun! Here it is with a 'pocket protector', my 642, for size comparison:
The J-frame 642 has the stock boots on it while the Z-frame Governor has the large backstrap-padding X-frame Hogue .500 Magnum grips for recoil control. The Z-frame will mount round butt grips made for a K/L, N, X, or Z-frame. The recoil help isn't needed except for the hottest 2.5" .410 buck shot-like loads. A 255gr LSWC or 250gr Speer Gold Dot in .45 Colt pushing 800fps from it's 2.75" barrel is fine, recoil wise, with the OEM grips. Mine hits close enoug to POA to call it coincident with the .45 Colt loads mentioned and 230gr .45 ACP ball ammo from 5-15yd - great for home defense, my use of the Governor. My 642 gets pocket carry duties - occasionally my new 351PD, a 7-shot 10.8oz 637's relative in .22 WMR, gets carried. In the woods, my pocket gun is a .44 Special version of the 642 - like a 642 on steroids, the old 296, which was dropped over a decade ago. The 642 and some Remington R38S12 158gr +P LHPSWCs, aka 'the old FBI load', are enough to protect my bacon. If not, I likely needed something crew served! BTW, I'll hit 65 next month.
