How to change Medallions on S&W grips

Need help on how to change medallions on S& W grips.Are there any special tools I might need.Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve

Change them for what? Why?

The medallions are riveted, either through the washers or just in the wood on later stocks. There is no practical way to remove them without damaging the medallion or the stock itself.
