After taking the sideplate off. What is the best way to clean the inside without removing anything else?

Any one of the aerosol products, like GunScrubber, do a decent job. Spray the crap out of it then turn it open-side down on a shop towel, let it set a while, do it again. Lubricate appropriately and close it back up.
It's BETTER to detail strip the gun, but the above will do a decent job.

I just pop the side plate off, take out the hammer block and spray a very small shot of oil on the sear and other surfaces that have regular contact with each other. Take a nylon brush and lightly get any junk out. The cans of air for cleaning out computers works well too if you don't want to do a full detail strip.
