Hi! this may sound a little bit silly. I happen to have an N-frame S&W model 627 5" & have applied for a permit to transport & i would like to keep it beside me inside my car when im driving everyday. Can anybody share any ideas on how i can at least conceal my N-frame (keeping it discreetly tucked beside me at all times). I got it NIB along with a metalic case but its just too bulky. I was thinking that if i just attach a holster beside the gear shift mount but that would just be very visible. Any insights would be great. thanks.

Better check your gun laws to see if you can carry like that. In my corner of the world you will go to jail.

I agree with S&W-Keeper's advice. If legal, I think short of carrying the pistol concealed on your person (chest or shoulder holster), an under-dash holster would probably work for you. I'm a bit leery of having a loose gun in the car in the event of a car crash. Personally, if the pistol isn't on me, it's in a Center Mass gun safe under the front passenger seat.

Best of luck,

Dave

+1. Never leave a weapon in your vehicle unless you have to due to the laws of your state when entering "NO GUNS ALLOWED" establishments, and especially overnight.

Mine is ALWAYS on my hip or in my Alessi shoulder holster. Apply for a carry permit and wear your CCW all the time.

You might want to purchase a "K" frame snub for CCW. I do Carry my 3" 657 .41 mag in the winter with 210 gr. Speer Gold Dots.

I am real high tech. How about a dirty shirt or jacket over it alongside of you?

* In my Pristine 93 Z28 Camero with LT1 motor, Borg Warner 6 speed gearbox and still pumping out 390 HP. Stopped and making a left turn at dusk with my trusty S&W model 66 in the glovebox.

* 16 YOA girl in Mom's Tahoe hits me at 50 MPH while talking on cell phone.

* Seat breaks, console opens and I'm flung off back seat and come forward to a dislocated left thumb, C-1 - C4 herniated disks and a car bent in half.

* Come out of fog and search for my 66. Find it in the rear coupe of the car with my rear view mirror and other items.

Have never stepped in my 05 F-150 FX4 or any other vehicle again without my carry gun strapped to me.

Really glad I wasn't on my hopped up 93 1200 Sportster, or I would not be setting here typing this.

If you are not carrying it on you I would find a very secure way of transporting the Smith. It and everything else not secured becomes a flying hazard along with the chance of it actually hitting someone else in the vehicle or going off if struck on the hammer if you are involved in an accident. Truly hope you're not.

S&W-Keeper / Double-O-Dave - well, the gunlaws (on permit to transport license from residence to the range) here in manila says that it should be concealed even inside your vehicle & should be unloaded. As much as i wanted to carry it concealed on me, Im not a huge guy (5'7") too bad.

Sportsterguy - budget constraints! though my next pistol would be a North American Arms for concealability.

Kahoy - i've also seen some people do this. as much as i would want to, its rather huge.
