I need to replace this motor. It is for an exhaust fan in the ceiling of our laundry room. On Amazon, I cannot find an exact replacement based on the model number. My guess is that it is several decades old, and that a new compatible, replacement motors exist, but I am not sure how to find them.

I’d appreciate advice. (Be great if I could buy the correct replacement motor off Amazon.)

I had a 1950s model exhaust fan rebuilt in my last house. I took it down and shipped it. They rebuilt it and shipped it back. I installed it and it worked and was working when i sold the house 10 years later. Now if I can remember who they is?

No luck with Google and Duck duck go search. Pretty sure Nutone is the brand but it's been several years.

BU1, thanks. When I go to the site you linked, and plug in the model number, I get this:

That’s what I want? What about the fan blades?

Take the motor and the fan down to a NS plumbing supply house.
Often you can locate a replacement which bolt up into the housing.
Sometimes you’ll need to modify the housing , usually by cutting away some sheet metal, or drill new mounting holes.
I have done variations of this numerous times.
You really don’t want to replace the entire unit!

I'm not sure where in Oregon you are, but if you're not sure of the best replacement, you might want to call an expert on electric motors. This company in Portland gets good ratings. Even if you're not close, they are probably friendly enough to steer you in the right direction.

Check your local Lowe's or Home Depot.

I recently had to replace the motor in my bathroom fan.
Lowe's had a universal fit replacement that dropped right in.

Is this your typical exhaust fan like is installed in most bathrooms?
If so try Lowes. I got a replacement motor WITH a new fan blade for my bathroom exhaust fan a couple of weeks ago for around $25

EDIT: Looks like Hillbilly77 had the same experience/advice.

1)Nutone is the biggest bathroom exhaust fan company!
2)Forget Lowe's etc.. for parts!
3) Granger online is your best answer most times, and especially now!

Looks like the motor from a 600 to 800 CFM fan, much larger and nicer than most household units! Granger can help on a impellor replacement too, give the diameter, height and shaft size (should be the same as the motor, but I've seen stranger things!)

If the direction is indicated, you want to pass that along too (often written as CW or CCW OR in an arrow pointing in a direction relative to the shaft)

If necessary, most motors can be reversed, but it is a minor bother.

Lastly (or maybe it should have been first), is it direct drive or is there a pully and belt (I've worked on both types) if they need replaced all the diminutions are necessary for these too.

Once upon a time, I replaced a exhaust fan motor in this 1962 house. Grainger was the source for me and an exact duplicate was not available.A similar motor was available which required a little fab to mount it.
Still going strong a few decades later.
Doubtful any motor comes with the blades.

My thanks also! Very timely thread. One of mine has gotten loud, probably bearing(s) failure. I haven't dug into it yet, but now I have some good options for parts!
