How to install a Streamlight TLR-1 onto a M&P Compact

Ha! This thread gives me a chance to show off the TLR-4 I just got today. Installed it on my 45c with no issues whatsoever. Just used the correct "key" and it is perfect. That light is BRIGHT and I believe the TLR-1 is even a bit brighter....

Very nice! I see you also have the safety plugs :p
You could probably do the same with the TLR-1 HL model. 600 lumens = overkill? I think not.

Yep, I called Smith and they sent me the plugs free! I thought hard about which light to get, but really liked the TLR-4, with the red laser and not having to rely on night sights in a stressful condition. Happy with it so far. Will play with it tonight after the sun goes down.

Streamlight must have come up with a new key. I bought my TLR-1 when the compact first came out and it would not fit. I mounted it on my FS and bought a TLR-3 for the compact.

Nice video somedude and welcome to the forum!

I'm kinda partial to the TLR-3 for the M&P series,
but shotguns and rifles mount a TLR-1s or TLR-1s HP

Now if Streamlight would just get rid of that shiny silver ring!

I see yours is missing the silver rings. What did you do, paint them?

edit: After doing an ebay search, I see pics of the TRL-3 with and without the silver ring, yet have the same part number. Kinda weird.

The TLR-1 has always had the silver ring, the TLR-3 got the silver ring last year sometime I believe.
Streamlight upgrades the LED every so often and is on probably the 5th LED for the TLR-3. The 3 shown above have the Cree XP-E rated at 110 lumens. The latest generation has a Cree XP-E2 spec'd at 125 lumens.

Not to sound like a flashaholic or anything :D

Also, I do have a latest generation of the TLR-3 on my 442, I just wish they would go back to the old style
