How to move rear sight in dovetail M-915

Hi
The S&W pistol I found out was a model 915 in 9mm with the de-cocking leverr.

The point of impact is to the lower right. I tried to move the rear sight in the dovetail but it wouldn't budge.

I looked for a pin but just couldn't see anything. I truthfully didn't look at the front sight at all. That may move easire.

How do you all adjust the fixed sights for windage on the S&W 915??


Does S&W use Loc-tite retainer there or what?


If so I could heat that with a jewlers torch, but I don't know how hot to get the sight to melt the Loc-tite.

Any info or advise would be helpful.

The pistol has fixed sights, so I guess to correct point of impact low I will need to buy a shorter front sight.

Were can I get a S&W higher front sight? Dawson Precision???

OK, I'd spend some additional range time making sure the impact point wasn't me yanking the trigger.

Before trying heat on the sights, make sure they're steel sights. Some of the S&W value line guns had/have plastic sights. They can be quite resistant to moving and you definately don't want to heat them. Regardless of plastic or steel, you're going to need a brass drift and a hammer to move the sights. Probably also some applied muscle on the hammer.

To move the point of impact, you move the rear sight in the direction you want the group to move. The front sight moves in the opposite direction. If the front sight doesn't have a white dot, you could file it down to correct the low point of impact. If you want to replace the front sight, I'd suggest calling S&W customer service. Different height front sights are generally available.

BTW, if you try to remove the sights to replace them, S&W sights drive out from left to right looking at the slide from the rear. The slide dovetails are tapered. You install sights right to left.

Im not sure ive ever heard the sight adjustment that way but i think its works out the same lets say your gun is in a vice and all 5 of your shots are in a nice group a foot to the right.so you have to move the rear sight to the left to line up with the group you just shot because we know the gun didn't move so you have to line up to where the gun shoots
