Yep...hand tighten...

That's what I did with mine. 5K rounds later, it's still tight. If you're worried about it, there is always "Blue" loctite;)

I used the crush washer from the factory flash hider and then just screwed my shroud on by hand. I didn't crank it down super tight by hand, I just got it snug. I have had no problems with it coming loose in 5000+ rounds since I installed it.

Endcap

If you buy the 4" shroud the end cap can stay on, if you buy the 6" inch it has to come off.

I purchased the following from kinetiTech;

"Ported & Slotted Muzzle Brake Style Barrel Shroud
S&W AR 15 / 22 6' Long - "

I Replaced the factory rail with a new Troy 11" alpha Battlerail (which uses a standard AR barrel nut) and had to cut 1/3/4 inches off the back end. I then machine the Back cap to fit into the rail by 3/8 of a inch. to get the following look.

I'm please with the outcome.

I wish there was one would just meet up with the end cap, not requiring it to be removed. Wouldn't removing the end cap take away support for the front of the quad rail? I am thinking of support when/if using a bipod, etc.

Looks like they also have it mounted incorrectly. A muzzle brake should have the big holes to the sides and the tiny holes to the top and bottom. Not that it will do much in a .22LR.

I've read a couple of reports that you're actually better off from an accuracy perspective making the quad rail free floating when using a bipod on the 15-22.

The theory is that with the end cap in place weight transfers against the barrel creating flex on the bore line whereas w/ it removed the rails flex independently of the rest of the upper. Not sure what if any implications this might have for long term durability of the polymer rails though.
