How well does the Burris Fastfire or similar sight work on the 617?

Thinking about adding one of these small reflex sights to my 617-6 6".
I want something as small and durable as possible.

I've had a Trijicon RMR on an M&P Core 9mm for 4000 rounds now, no trouble. Also on a Glock 19.

The .22 will not phase them at all.

Burris Fastfire II I had one replaced by Burris (excellent customer service; they replaced it even though I bought it used). It now resides on my M1 Garand. Holds up fine.

I had one on my 617 for a short time and found using a reflex on a revolver to be cumbersome

Supposedly the reflex will train you to get on the sights quicker.
It didn't work for me. I moved it back to a Ruger MKII where it still resides today

The Burris Fastfire is a good reflex and will treat you well.
There are other reflex sights that will work just as well. The Burris seems to be a great value compared to the others

If you decide to mount a reflex on your 617, you may want to consider a Weigand rail. It's made for a S&W and the quality is outstanding
