My buddy flew into Tucson yesterday to cheer me up (the knee replacement saga, arrg), so naturally we had to go shooting. We went out to my favorite spot on the back side of Mt Lemon but the wind was howling, as in 25 with gusts to 30+. We finally managed to get a target stand to stay in place long enough to give the Model 10, 22 Alpha, Ruger 10-22 and the Bersa Thunder a nice work out.

Even with the wind we pulled out the Browning 12 gauge pump, a box of clays and the hand thrower. Figured misses could easily be written off to the wind. (o; We were standing 5 yards behind my F-150 with the tailgate down to hold all of our gear. The wind was over my right shoulder and amazingly enough we were getting some very nice hits on about 6 out 10. We quit early due to the conditions. Piled back into the truck and laying on the drivers side windshield wiper was a one inch chunk of orange clay bird! My buddy was throwing them high but man O man, to have chunk blow back over us and come to rest on the windshield of the truck that was facing away from where we shot blew my mind!

Still windy here in Florence, darn dust is kicking up too.
Last week my wife got stuck in Deming headed to El Paso, they closed I-10 due to high winds and lack of visibility.
Ended up getting a room for the night.

Had a wind here a couple of weeks ago that blew over my Weber Genesis 1000 gas BBQ. I was impressed! First time that has happened in the 15 or so years I have owned it.

So now I got the sucker tied down.

Our little airport here in the south-central Colorado mountains uses a nine inch log chain for a windsock.........when it's gone you're not supposed to try to land or take off.

Farmer I knew claimed it was so windy at his place one day that one of his hens laid the same egg three times. But he was known to exagerrate a bit on occasion.

On the other hand, in my smoking days I once flipped a cigarette butt 378 measured yards.
