Howa 30 06

I just recently purchased a s &w howa 30 06,did these guns come with synthetic stocks originally ?

According to what I see in the SCSW 5th edition, They were wood stocks.

I have several Howa 1500 rifles with synthetic stocks. After market companies have offered synthetics for years for the Howas and for the virtually identical Weatherby Vanguards. I'm sure any stock made for one of those could easily have been adapted to one of the S&Ws. BTW, Frank de Haas's seminal book Bolt Action Rifles also does not mention any S&W rifle coming with a synthetic stock.

I have a rifle made by Howa, purchased in the early 70s. It is a Weatherby Vanguard in 30-06 - has a beautiful walnut stock!

I really like Howa rifles, second only to Pre-64 Winchester M-70s and even older Winchester M-54s!
