Hello: i am a retired state police employee, former correctional officer and also national guard technician. recently realized that i've always enjoyed shooting, so i want to accumulate some handguns. i have a box of 550 remington 22lr that i want to shoot up, so i'm looking at sw 617's.
right at the present, all i have is a HR 12 guage single shot and a SW stainless 357 that my father gave me.
i have to confess, i also like glocks a lot and intend to buy a couple at some point. i also have a lot of curiosity about "oddball" guns like 38 supers and the star astra. i like things that are different.
my gun background is: i grew up on a farm and had my own shotgun at 11. i had a bad habit of shooting up all my ammo when i had any. joined the national guard in '76 and amazingly, i fired expert on the range.
i began work as a prison guard in 1980. we trained up with Ruger Service Six's chambered for 38. i loved those guns. they were solid as a crowbar. i rejoined the national guard in 1989 after being out for 7 years. i re-upped into an aviation unit as unit armorer.
in 1996, i got hired as a Facilities Security guard by the state police, worked for them until 2016. i carried a 686 for about 13-14 years, then the troopers handed down their glocks to us. i loved both of those pistols.
anyway, i've got some questions, some about reloading.
