I here am new.

I have been a firearms enthusiast for 40 years.

I am a 1911 armorer and aspiring knife maker. I make 1911 grips, High Standard derringer grips and pistol display stands.

I am kinda fond of some S&W firearms. In my life I have only owned 18 S&W firearms (I currently have 15 of em). Wish I still had the other 3.

I am currently looking for a M-29 8-3/8" blue revolver to compliment the nickel one. But if I do that I'll also need a M-57 and M-27 8-3/8" blue and a M-29 6" blue. I also need a M-19 to compliment the M-66. I wonder, did S&W make a nickel M-53? If so I'll need one of those too to go with my blue one.

Of course then I'll have to get a M-629 . . .

Welcome Dave: Of course your 'sickness' isn't going to get any better hanging out here. :-) ............. Big Cholla

Welcome to the forum from Arkansas and being up here is no cure for the sickness.

Thanks for the welcome.

Thought I might add that I prefer Smith revolvers that are pinned and recessed with hammer mounted firing pin.

Don't care for the hammer lock or the scalloped cylinder release. Don't like em, wouldn't buy one. Also think that large frame revolvers should have a square butt.

I like the target hammer and trigger on my Smith's. I replaced the trigger; looking for a hammer.

I really like nickel and stainless revolvers. I also like the blue revolvers S&W made in the '70's.

What more could a person want? More Smith's?

Recently this pistol was given to me. It belonged to a friend. He thought it was er, um, not a very good pistol. He gave it to me because he thought maybe I could fix it and make it work properly.

Welcome from Ringgold, Georgia! :) Let's see some of your 1911 grips.

Be happy to. I'll start with this:

DSC00050.jpg

matching grips, display stand and screwdriver. All made by little ole me by hand. The wood is Ipe.

I use ebony, bloodwood, kingwood, tulipwood (when I can get it) micarta, G-10, among others.

I apologize for the lousy photos (cheap camera). The grips are a lot nicer than the photos show.

Here's just a few.

This is something I've been thinking about for a while. This set is the prototype.

I thought these might be used for photos. I don't know how they will work (or if they will work) on a pistol in actual use. I'll let you know once I have field tested them.
