A co-worker and I went and I was surprised how nice and spacious the show was. And once the Texans game started, the convention center was almost deserted, so it was even nicer.
A vendor I'd seen at the George R. Brown a few weeks ago had a couple of Model 410s, one ragged out and the other semi-ragged. $350 and $395 respectively
These made me glad I was looking for a .40.
There was a really nice 59 ($495) and a pristine round triggerguard 6906 ($475), both high in my estimation, but worth looking at.
Another gent had a 469 ($325) that's a lot nicer than the one sitting at my side, but that one has the ambidextrous safety which I don't care for and mine was $75 less. He also had a nice 669 ($395).
A nice gentleman from the Golden Triangle had a Ladysmith 3913 and a 908S, no boxes, one mag. He wanted $599 for either and that was after I batted my green eyes at him. My heart went into palpitations. This was better than love. Better than lust. I have a good teacher friend up in Lumberton and I may visit her soon and go by the fellow's shop.
The best pistol, though, was a 3913DAO, with box, marked down from $900 to $750. Ten years ago I'd have been soliciting out in the parking lot (only kidding, not serious, I'm making a joke!) for a few extra guilders. I really wanted this one and can't afford it right now. In a few weeks, OK. Now, no.
At least I found a Smith factory mag for my 469. The nice fellow had $35 on the tag. It was the only one he had; indeed, I didn't see another from any other vendor. He sold it for $25. Finally, the eye trick did some good
It has a nice stiff spring and looks as if it's never been in a pistol or had cartridges loaded into it. Now I'm glad I didn't buy any of 'em for $35 at the Geo R Brown a few weeks ago.
