We used to joke about the humidity in Vietnam, take a dry towel, swing it around in the air, then wring out a cup of water. I had never lived with humidity until I went in the Army, Virginia didn't hold a candle to Vietnam.
The usual humidity around here is in the 20's, we keep the house a bit higher for my wife. We went to Dallas for a couple of days years ago, I will never forget seeing a temperature reading of 100degrees and 98% humidity. The only place outside the hotel that was tolerable was a pool, which had an island in the middle with a bar...frozen marguerites up to my chest on a stool in the pool. It felt like a forest fire was chasing me down the street. Someone asked me what it was like, I told him to put the oven up to 120 degrees and stick a pan of water in there, after an hour stick your head inside. You can keep the humidity, hurricanes, BUGS....at night the streets were alive with Cuccarachas...never seen anything like it. About the only good thing Dallas had going for it was more beautiful women per square mile than anywhere I'd ever been, except maybe New Orleans, or Reykjavik.
