While pheasant hunting had a bird wait until I literally had a foot on his tailfeathers before launch. I near had a heart attack and he left a couple of tailfeathers under my left boot. I was scanning ahead and had no clue he was sitting there. The guys with me asked why I didn't shoot, I explained and they were kind enough not to razz me about the incident.

Have had a couple of GPS adventures, don't really see humor there.

#2. Those nefarious little birds just lay in wait for the opportunity to scare the bejeebers out of us! One time, I was headed around the end of the range house at the club to "relieve myself." I really had to go . . . .

Darn bird was heading to the same area from the other side. We spotted each other and the critter flushed. I barely contained myself. Literally.
