#1. I learned a lot from squirrels and armadillos.
Was calling for buck one afternoon. The Big one I was after was standing, all of a sudden, on the other side of a large pine one tree over. All vital targets blocked. Wouldn't shoot him in the spine or gut. Started to separate his hams from the spine. I like neck shots. He stood still there at least 15 to 20 minutes, then eased off into the dark. Have to love a brilliant buck. Saw him again once, though hunting him was a challenge. Never found a scrape. Gave up on him three years later when he allowed me a one second shot, showing me he had aged. I started hunting his son.
