#4, and number 12 has been taken over by various GPS units. I was searching for a place and heard "You have arrived". Nothing but crop land around me, but a little over 1/4 mile ahead was a structure. At least I could see it. Another time I thought I'd figured out where I was going on a map, fairly direct if I was right. The GPS took me on a multi county expedition. Came home by my memory of the map.
