Hunting boots

Whatever boots you decide on, put on a pair of Wigwam "Canada" socks first. I'm a whiner about wanting warm and comfortable feet when I'm out in the snowy bush. "Canadas" are like adding 400 more grams of Thinsulate and they're like walkin' on a warm bed. NOTHING like them. I use a pair for slippers around the house in the winter.
A bit thick, however, so if you pick some up, bring 'em to try your boots on with.

*Another tip, in case it'd be useful:
Try on your boots late in the day. Your feet swell slightly as the day progresses so "just right" in the morning is "torture" in the afternoon.

(I know too much about this stuff. Worked in the boot dept. @ a Gander Mountain once upon a time and wanted to be worth a **** doin' it.)

I am an Upland Game & Pheasant Hunter and hunt about 300 acres over a few days so I do a lot of walking through fields, woods and up & down hills. The best boots I have found so far (got them 6 years ago) are from LL Bean and they are Kangaroo Leather Boots. They also contain Gore-tex & Thinsulate so they are very warm & dry, but they are also VERY lightweight and strong. I water proofed them (stitching) with Beeswax waterproofing and they work GREAT! I think I paid around $129 but that was a few years back - the price has gone up a bit. If you do a lot of walking, want a lightweight comfortable boot that won't break the bank, I would highly recommend this one!
