Hunting from the back porch

Pretty much the same way here. I put in a pool last year so I had to move my deer plot over a little. I don't even have to go out of the house, just raise a window. I did have to spray some WD 40 on the window frame. It had starting squeaking and scared some of them off. Freezer is full so we will only need one or two this year. The only cost to this style of hunting is the cost of the ammo used. I had enough wild nights at the deer camp in my younger days. Besides, hunting with a hangover isn't as much fun.

There is much to be said for porch hunting. These were turkeys in the backyard. Rifle is an 1892 Winchester in 25/20. Not sure why that first photo is turned sideways.

I always thought that it would be great to have a back porch that protrudes a little out over a pond with fish but your setup would work too.

Have fun! :)

Been living in the woods most of my life. Plenty of easy deer and turkey shots from my back deck. So easy I don't shoot them. Now for Yotes they are shot when I cam get a shot at them. I could not live in town with close neighbors after so many years out here where I can do as I wish without bother with anyone. If I want town I can go spend the day there but always happy to get back to the house.

If i owned a house in the woods up here, would not hesitate to shoot wanted animals from it. Even from the living room table through a an open window (legal here if it is your property out of town). While haven't hunted in quite some time, it was always meat hunting and was not a trophy hunter. At least for me, it was not about being a "sportsman", it was about years worth of meat. Imo, not real sporting to hunt animals that can't shoot back, even if they be smarter than i am, and most of them are.

I wouldn't shoot any game animals from my porch, not criticizing any that do to each their own. But, if I lived in the country then any yard pig, coyote etc. would be shot on site.

Just don't want them digging under the shed and the coyotes are competition for the game I want for myself.

Doesn't make it right, just my thoughts.

I agree nothing wrong with it I just don't do it myself.

Well my next door neighbor has been feeding the deer at the back of his property. If say this winter they rambled accross the back of my place it is a 50 yard shot from my pool deck. Perhaps I need to start saving the acorns from my front yard them poor deer might get hungry, and also cold might need to bring one of them in to warm up lol...

From my back porch and my front porch, except I live IN the city of Pittsburgh so I'd need a cross bow. They don't like gunfire in my section of the 'burgh! Plus, many of them eat outta my hands!

You know...If a guy were to think about all of the reasons he bought a truck, rifle, camping gear...I mean think about it...thousands of dollars over the years...thousands, hell we keep sports goods stores in business. It might not be a bad idea to put the money into land and just hunt off your back porch, my hats off to you sir.
