I just picked up a Model C Husquvera 30.06. Any idea on type/power scope would work best on this rifle for whitetail/hogs? Thx

A straight 4X has always been the classic scope for an '06. This one is an older Lyman on an M70 Win (bottom). All you need and nothing more. A 1-5X Leupold ain't a bad choice, though.

I think you're trying to spell Husqvarna. That 's a brand and a caliber, .30-06.

Without knowing if you have a carbine with a 20-inch barrel or a rifle with 24 inch barrel and not knowing what all else you may want to hunt, I'd suggest a 2.5X-8X Leupold variable.

If a carbine and limited to 150 yards, a really good 3X will work and give you the wide field of view that you may well need.

Beware of used optics until you learn how to evaluate them. They're often fogged.

Do you know if your Husqvarna has the older Mauser action or the newer style? Can you post photos?

Is your rifle marked as a Husqvarna, or was it sold under the S&W brand?

They're fine guns. I once owned a .270 with the Euro classic stock.

I think a quality 3x9x40mm scope like a Leupold Vari X II would work great as would the same scope made by Nikon. The reason you want the high power is to be able to see better and that helps with shot placement. These scopes are good quality and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I too have an old husky 146 in 9.3 x62 Mauser. It is my go to rifle for hogs, deer, bear. These are just made for hunting. Everything shot is just plain bang flop.

I use a Bushnell scope that has the manual BDC we dope the scope for the distance. The top turret are replaceable to correct for the bullet weight your using. I use the 4-12x42 scope with 100yd to 500yds adjustable BDC. eBay has them. There no longer manufactured.

I only use scopes with the BDC option.
