Hydraulic Buffer?

Holy cow Dik! I am not going to complain about the cold!:)You win!:D Ahh so you are going to be the official cold weather tester on anything in this forum? Ahh - you have my vote. Stay warm my friend.:)

Lol. It's not as bad at home. I could't test anything here at work. BP doesn't like anything firearm related on their lease haha. I bought a stock once from a coworker from the states and he just brought it to work. TSA doesn't care, but BP security flipped a wig. Thinking about it though, I could bring a buffer up, as it doesn't look like anything from a gun to the average person. Could test compression and rebounding in this cold by hand or using ounce weights and see if it takes more weight to compress it in the cold and speed it releases by taking video of it happening in normal temp and this temp and comparing video side by side.

I was more thinking like this-
Lol. Warmed up a bit since last week. We got shut down yesterday as it was -78 with wind. Not quite fair though, as this is at work. Luckily I'm headed home tonight and it's a little warmer there, 12 Today :)

Ours bounces up and down. Our old saying here is if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes and it'll change. It could be 20 next week or -20 below. I'd like to see how the buffer acts in All extremes. Even your test would be interesting. I'm hoping we get another cold snap when it gets here, just for testing. Either way,I have a couple to test it out in and also use it with a GL-Shock in two different rifles, plus the stock buffers too.

I hope everyone is keeping a round count. That way John can have a good count for life time expectancy and over-all durability.

I'm sure glad I joined this forum over any others. I would've never thought people would do something like this and am glad to be following such a tight-knit community. I've learned so much and know I will continue.

Ok the hydraulic Buffer is on its way to Bill. My round count was 80, but I cycled the buffer a few more times than that by hand and by charging handle. But put down 80 for me!! And yes I really like it, I would always be concerned about it wearing out so I would have to keep (well I do anyway) a standard H1 or H2 buffer in my range bag. But I believe I am going to do something. I really like the JP Enterprises Contained Buffer and Spring Unit.
I also figured out why the carbines dont sound as much like the daisy's the M16 and A1 did. On those rifles the buffer didnt bottom out in the tube like it does in our rifles so the spring had more whip to it.

or a heavier buffer and or stiffer spring. But then we are back to the old argument. So its been snowing all day and we are headed for -2 tomorrow evening. Thats cold when accompanied but a good Kansas wind!! LOL

Speaking of Kansas, I just got back from K.C. on business a couple of hours ago. On he way to the airport to fly back to Denver I saw cabelas at Hwys 435 & 70 so I stopped in. I was amazed, they were stocked with PMC 55 gr. .223, 10 box limit for 9.95 each. There were a couple hundred boxes right up front. They also had 5 ar's, 2 Bushies and 3 Sig Saurers. Prices were higher, but nothing like GB site. One of the sigs was $1600, another over 2 grand. And one of the Bushes was between $1100-$1200.

I stopped at Bass Pro shop the night before, they had Nada.

Can't find much here in Denver, but we have two Cabelas under construction here. One north one south. Can't wait.

That was yesterday about 1:30pm. And there were a bunch of people in the hunting section. Several were loading up a dry box of the PMC .223.

Hope there's some left for ya, or some more in the back.

On a sad note, Cabela's canceled my order for UMC .223 dry box 420 rounder. Was placed in December for $119 and free shipping. Chit!

I hope the weather doesnt slow down the mail, Supposedly (according to tracking) the buffer left Dodge City yesterday evening headed to Wichita.

Its still here and snowing....the mail isnt running and I have a bunch of parts for the Mini in the mail. But it says the AR-restor left Dodge last night.

I'm in Kansas City on a business trip. I can't believe how freaked out people are about it. I guess this city never deals with this type of snow. I saw one snow plow. Snow like this wouldn't shut down anything in the Chicagoland & suburban area.

I asked the front desk how far an open store was. They said 4 blocks in a tone as if I had asked to trek to the Antarctic. I walked there and back in a jiffy.

Damn. When did you get there? I flew in Monday, wish I knew, would've been nice to meet ya.

I'm sorry to disappoint, but the weather here will probably be clear and in the mid 60°s when I get to the range to test the buffer. :p

55 predicted here you must be just south of me. lol

Maybe quite a bit further south. Forecast changed. 48 now. I'll go shooting anyway. :D

I won't be getting the buffer until the weekend so I won't be able to test it until next Friday. Listening to the forecasts it sounded like we were supposed to be warming up next week...but bay area weather can change so fast.

Let's just say that there's no chance at all that it'll be below 50° when I take it out. :)
