Hydraulic Buffer?

The residual bronchitis after my bout with the flu has kept me awake most of the last two nights so I'm in no condition to go shooting today. My next opening for a range day is two weeks away so I'm sending the buffer to Stavman11 in AZ. He seems the have the most shooting opportunities at the moment so can make use of it sooner rather than later.

I've let Stav know to PM Maddmax when he's done testing it so that it can be sent to the next in line for it.

im always Glad ta Take one for the Team:D

have not read the entire thred... hope to today.... ill run it through the paces and see what kinda Results i get

I have a Bushmaster Carbon 15 that for sure has a stronger KICK than my Sport... so it will be another good candidate for the testing

Rock and Roll Boys

Stav.............

Sadly, my opportunity to go to the range this wknd doesnt look like it will happen now...my gf has a fam deal that i got roped into...grrrrr

ok

Im a Bit Confused..... how does the Hydro Buffer work and Make a Difference...

Still has the spring.... How does the Piston make any difference... Does the Piston go all the way back to end of Chamber when a round Shoots???

Explain it to me OH Experts please... need to know what I am working with so i can evaluate it properly

:D

The piston is supposed to dampen the BCG before the buffer spring compresses. What it does in reality, and how it affects perceived recoil is for you to determine and report back to us. :D

Epic thread gentlemen. I'm looking forward to reading your impressions of the buffer.

Everyone, anyone keeping a round count ? Reloads or factory rounds ? It'd be nice to know "it's" probable life expectancy while we're doing this too.

Does the buffer itself need any lube of it's own beside a wipe down coat ?

finally just read the entire Thread

WOW:eek: My brain is FRIED from all the NEW info i am trying to process...

So seems to Increase Target re-acquisition..
Some or minimal Recoil reduction but adds a smoother recoil
Laser test seems to confirm above testing
Grover is GETTING one....:D

So i have My Sport.... Full optics and Bi-Pod... ill test at least 40rds with and without New Buffer...

My Bushmaster Carbon15 has a Noticably more KICK than the sport... much lighter Gun.. so will do the same with it

I will also do some Bolt testing as well Like Grover did. I dont have a laser so will just see what it FEELS like

Planing on 100rds of testing on Monday... Most will be My Loads but will also do some 5.56 and .223 factory...

I am Very Excited.... more to add to my PLAY DAY:p

Very interesting 12 page read for sure... Like many have said... It's great that a bunch of YaHoo's from all over the country... can get together... chat about an awesome Hobby... send $100 toys to forum Friends to Play with and test... and in turn Them do the same..

Makes ya smile to know that we are part of the good people in the world

:D

PS

So sorry for all you guy's Weather woe's.... I feel for Ya;)

We have a front moving in today.... pretty windy... only gunna be High 70's today

Luckily it is warming back up tomorrow and Monday to Mid 80's and 5-10mph winds

Man good thing was thinking I may have ta bust out some PANTS!!!

Love Arizona boys... vacation destination and ALWAYS sunny

:D

Sorry had ta go there....LOL;)

Ok Lets talk about my Day and the Hydro Buffer shall we...

Sunday I did some Bolt realeases to see if I could see any noticable difference... well seemed the same on that front

So left the hydro in my sport... and that was the 1st Gun i shot, On my Table with bi-pod and 6-24 scope.. so had some weight on it for sure..10 rds... really didnt notice much difference.. i thought.
Real quick swapped back in stock buffer.. 10 more rounds..
i noticed a Definite difference... the Twang was more pronounced for sure with stock Buffer and Not really sure the hydro decreases recoil but Target Re-Acquisition is much easier which could be due to less Muzzel Jump

So was surprised and Impressed... next Up Bushmaster Carbon 15. this is a Much lighter Gun and the recoil is significantly more noticeable Than my Sport, Only thing on it is my eotech site.. rest is stock... was shot free hand at gongs at 65yds
I started it with the stock Buffer installed... 10 rds like before... Then put the hydro Buffer in... wow... big difference.. i can Notice the loss of recoil by quite a bit... Re-Acquisition was also much Faster due to much less muzzle movement..and the Twang was even Less pronounced on the C15 with the Hydro Buffer

I think with the liter C15 rifle I was able to notice even more results from the hydro Buffer than on the Sport. I assume with the Lighter weight and Increase Power FELT with the C15 the Hydro Buffer appears to dissipate more of the recoil energy...

Accuracy?
Not sure itself makes it more accurate... i took 5 pics, and well, my accuracy was about the same... BUT... due to the shortened target Acquisition time, you could say it does increase accuracy due to that aspect

I believe I shot almost 200rds... and about 150 thru the Hydro Buffer. From 60gr factory... to 55gr Home Loads and Factory.. so I pretty much ran the gambit on Bullet types and weights

I was very impressed.. and Like Grover.... I think I need one... especially for the Carbon 15

2 thumbs up guys...

I will now open up the Floor for Questions?????:D

Not a question, just comment.

I'm glad I didn't listen to the paramilitary wanna-bees on TOS when I asked about the Endine over there. I was basically told if the Marines don't use it it's a waste of money.

I ignored and got this on sale. This thread justifies it as a good purchase.

Will it hold up in combat? Don't know, but feel confident enough to leave my stock backup buffer at home when I go to the range. I might grab it when the Zombies attack as a spare, but maybe not.

Ok who is gunna step up for me and be next? Stav emailed me but dang I'm getting my butt kicked at work....again. Then I have a fence to put in. I may not even see the range for nearly 2 months. Ugh. Oh well I have a job. Not going to complain.

....good report Stav!

That's funny. It was used by the Military to slow the cyclic rate down on automatic weapons... :D

Anyone have experience with the JP quiet capture buffer? I am seriously considering it for my M&P 15.

A while back I got the JP tuned/polished spring and a Spikes T2 buffer. Neither did anything to reduce the recoil on my Sport, but the JP spring definitely got rid of the scratchy/raspy sound during cycling.

That JP buffer has always gotten my attention, but it's a bit pricey, and was always out of stock when I felt like experimenting.
