Patiently waiting tonight for the 'end game' of a GunBroker auction.
They had one I had my heart set on.

Had my bid all ready to pounce and the GunBroker system crapped itself.

There was nothing I could do.

Tried to get in through different channels on my PC and then the app on my cellphone. NADA.

I am really angry right now.

I was ready to go the distance and got blocked.

I really, really hope that nothing nefarious went on there.

And, I am not in the mood for any 'lectures' on buying from auction sites. This is my first negative experience. I actually know many sellers on GB, and, I know this one also. I will be waiting for an explanation.

This isn't my first rodeo, but, it's the first time I got bucked.

Hmmm, wonder what the seller is thinking as well. If G Broker's host went down and folks couldn't bid the seller lost out too. Interesting, since it is really beyond GB's control. I will be curious to see the outcome on this one.

Why were you waiting to bid? Can't "snipe" with the 15 minute rule, anyway.

When I see something I want I bid right away. I bid once, the absolute max I will pay. I either get it at my price or I don't overpay.

I think some bidders scare off when there is already a bid in place. I don't have time to sit at the computer watching an auction count dowm making $5 increment bids every 5 minutes.

I had bid already and was busy working my way to the 'end game' to sit down and finish playing my cards.

It's not my first time at the table. I know the rules. I've played the game. I have my rules and if I want something bad enough then I get to decide if I want to overpay, or not. That's on me and me only. It's my money. I decide how to spend my money.

As far as watching the auction, that's my time and I get to choose how I use my time any way I wish.

The system died. Simple as that. Would really like to understand what happened at GunBroker.

I won one on GB tonight, put my high bid on two weeks ago and then had to play around at the last minute with a bidder. Not the greatest deal in the world, but I got something that I had wanted for awhile, and it is a S&W

I think you already answered your own question of what happened....the system crashed. No Chinese plot, no Covid knocking out the IT staff.....no one trying to bid block you....simply as you put it the system died. Whether it was them or your internet provider not much that can be done....just go back when the site is up and see if the auction closed.....

You might want to contact that seller. If the auction is closed, you can click on sellers other items and explain what happened. If this was a site wide error, there will be a barrage of complaints. Good luck

Yep that’s not OK.

I’ve had similar experiences but only on the Sunday night auctions. I wasn’t bidding tonight but I was “watching” several that I was interested in the outcome of. I was unable to view my watched items at the crucial times but luckily some of the times were extended, and the ones that sold were still in my watched list when I was finally able to open it.

Several months ago I was high winning bid on an item on GB. I used the instant checkout and after a week I had still not heard back from the seller. I finally called and it seemed that their entire Gunbroker sight had been viscously and maliciously hacked.

I don’t want to go down conspiracy road but I suspect this isn’t happening on the flower auctions. (If there are flower auctions.)

I have had 502 badgateway happen to me also on GB in the past.

I sometimes wait until the last 15 to bid so I feel your pain.

Also as far as value goes what I want to pay for something can change from day to day. Sometimes hour by hour lol.

A few times I felt I overpaid but once I received it I was more than happy and glad I treated myself.

I know the seller.

He was the first respondent to my angst. I have requested an explanation of the matter.

And, thanx for the 'Good luck'.

I know he will be busy tonight as his auctions closed tonight and he will be quite tied up with buyers and sellers.
