Thanks for this info Ivan'. I was surprised how after only 15 rnds. this thing resembled my 629 after about 250 rnds. of shooting unique!
I will give it a try on the next outing.

Interesting factoid about the sheep tallo in factory rounds. I would have to keep our food crazed Bullmastiff away from those rounds or they would end up in the back yard via her GI tract.

No over powder wad? I load the 45/70 with Swiss 1 1/2 BP with 550 gr cast bullets and always use a 30/1000th wad between the base of the bullet and the powder. This keeps the bullet lube from finding its way into the powder charge.

If you add big-groove bullets, grooves filled with SPG lube, to the info provided by Sunkist several posts back up the page, you got it. The need for use of such lube seems to increase with rifle-length barrels to combat fouling in the forward few inches of bore. Some handguns run much better if a mix of water-cut Ballistol is generously applied from a Spritz-type spray bottle to the area of the base pin/frame between cylinder-fuls of loads.....Can't go wrong with seatin the bullet to touch the powder with 777 and shoot for a slight compression of the powder by the bullet base with real black. Pyrodex can be very corrosive, smells unearthly, and is my last choice as a BP-sub propellant.
