I am thinking about re-buying a Ruger P89

I also have a 9mm P95DC stainless with the polymer frame. A true polymer frame with no steel inserts. Ruger torture tested the P95 with 20,000 rounds of +P+ ammo to prove reliability and durability. A bit bulky but light. One of the best Rugers ever made but sadly also discontinued but used ones can be found on GB.

Yep, I bought one cheap about ten years back. Only Bill Ruger could find a way to overbuild a polymer pistol.:D

I had a P90 YEARS ago. Sold it and missed it. (silly me) A few years back saw 1 on Armslist about an hour away. Met seller and grabbed it up. Got $50 off the original asking. Bob

For a really current perspective on a P-series, I saw one in the case at my LGS this afternoon. It was a P95 and looked to be in good shape. I didn't handle it and don't know if it included any extra mags, but the price on the hang tag was $283. FWTW...

I saw 4 blued P89s on one table at a gun show in West Monroe, LA this past weekend. One was rougher than the others and clearly had been carried, priced at $200. The other 3 looked pretty good and were at $250. Some were safety and some decock only. I wish I were a LA resident and had had the money to just buy all 4….

The only Ruger I ever owned was a Model IV I sent off to Volquarson for trigger work. He does a slick job.
I found one on an auction site (a P95) which lasted about three nano-seconds before my middle son gloomed it off me for his son.
I did some reseach and settled on a P89...watched and waited, and scored one recently on an auction site for well under $300.

But, very heavy DA trigger and only fair in SA. A new recoil spring and 20lb hammer spring has the DA "down" to 12 lbs and SA at 5.

Some grip tape and a couple of mags and it'll be a nice home-defense gun, but I don't think it will ever replace the spot in my heart my Smiths have.

(Years ago we used to vacation in New Hampshire near Claremont. It was always fun to drive slowly past the plant there in the summer and peek in the doors and windows. I often wish they had had factory tours, it would have been interesting. Wonder if the plant is still there. Haven't been back in a long time as we live in WA state now.)

I'll jump on the P-Series Love Train. I have a P89 and it's probably my favorite handgun. I even think it's better looking than the 5906, 6906, etc.

$300/$350 is about the going rate in rural Maine. I don't see them offered too often.

Im really happy to know I’m not the only guy that revisits guns we sold off at one time

I did this not long ago. I had a Shield with the built in green laser that I traded/sold off when some other bright shiny thing caught my eye. Had all but forgotten about it until a few weeks ago when I saw this one at the LGS.

What made it really stand out was the "Recover Tactical Slide Rack" gizmo on the back of the slide. The picture doesn't show it well, but that's a bolt on T-shaped piece that makes working the slide easier. I had one on the one I traded/sold off. I've never seen another one on any gun.

Is this the exact same gun I got rid of come home? I can't prove it, but I tell myself it is. Still shoots just the same as always. I still had the little flashlight and folding knife that came with the original one.

And to stay on topic, I had one of those Rugers years ago. It was the metal frame, 9mm, I forget the actual designation now, P89?. It was a very soft shooter, and a good one at that. I think I sold it to a fellow who was taking a job as a security guard and needed to supply his own weapon. There was one at the LGS not too long ago that tempted me, but I'm sort of stocked up on 9mm's these days.
