Well guys, I bought the 13-1 that I posted about a week ago. The guy at the pawn shop wanted $400 out the door for it. Well, I went back that afternoon and tryed talking him down and had no luck. He was stuck like glue! So I said it wasn't meant to be owned by me and walked out the door.

Well as luck would have it, I went back in there yesterday and it was still there. I was ready to make him an offer of $350 out the door, but before I could say anything, he said..."Im ready to deal. I'll take $325 out the door." I said sold!! So Im the new owner of a 13-1.

Great gun and even better when you "steal" it for that price. Your pawnbroker wouldn't happen to have any 3" model 66's in stock? I'd like to do business with that guy!:)

I usually hear, "Oh ****, it's you again!" instead of a lower price. (LOL)

Congrats on a nice acquisition at a good price.

Dave

I have his twin brother :)

Sweet trigger!

Good job being persistent!

Congratulations! You gonna love that gun. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

I bet if you had laid out three benjamins on the counter it would have been yours. When they're down is the time to kick 'em :D

Three bills may have got it, but I wasn't going to bicker on $25 bucks! Could somebody be so kind and look up what year it was made? Serial # 3D151XX Thanks

Congrats on your 13-1 and yes you did well on the price. The model 13 is the Military and Police 357 magnum revolver. It evolved from the model 10-6 4 inch. I consider it one of the best combat fighting revolver ever made. I have a 13-2 4 inch and the revolver is my home defense weapon of choice.
Enjoy yours,
Howard

Hello Vblackwell,
Good luck dating the S/N.
Page 399 of the SCSW, 3rd. ed., shows 2D thru 17D serial prefixed as follows:
First two entries
1978 2D80001 - 2D99999
1979 4D00001 - 6D10000

The D prefixes then increase up to 30D9291

So, as you can see, no 3D prefixes are shown, so your gun 3D151XX does not exist.:D The high 1978 s/n 2D99999, probably should be 3D99999, but it isn't!

Same problem I had with my model 13, S/N 3D15834,
so I lettered mine. It shipped March 31, 1978.
Never bet on S&W, either way, but since they are numbered
about 700 apart, you'd probably be pretty safe assuming it shipped in the spring of 1978.

A letter from Mr. Jinks is, however, the only way to be sure.
Hope this helps,
teesur.

Hummm. Now thats interesting. Since they don't exsist then they should be worth a LOT more money! lol I have got to get to the book store and get me a book. Thanks
