Where would you go and why?

Second part of the question. If it weren't perfected yet and your chance of returning was 50/50 would you still go? Would it cause you to change your destination?

Parting of the Red Sea or the O.K. Corral gunfight. Probably the OK Corral. I'd pick up all the guns and get back real fast and post pics of them here.
No wait. The Little Big Horn with a video camera and bring back a bunch of guns if I didn't get scalped.

How about the garden of eden? Actualy my dream would be to have fine video equipment, interpretures and be able to jump all over back in time and interview many people and be able to telivise it today.

Early morning, 9/11/2001, with a pocket full of quarters to make a bunch of bomb threats. I'd probably pull a few fire alarms just in case.

Wrigley Field, October 2003, left field bleachers so I could hold back that guy who screwed up Alou catching the ball.

I think I'll stay right here. The past was tuffer'n nails just stayin' alive, and the future don't look much better.

I reckon Itchy and I will just run out our string right where we are.

About 25 years in the past. I'd be a multibillionaire in a few years... then have to decide how far to take the Godlike powers of knowing the future.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned prehistoric times or ancient Egypt or Rome, other than the fellow wanting to be at Christ's crucifixtion. (sp?)

It might be interesting to be an officer with Octavius Caesar as he entered Alexandria in triumph. What if Cleopatra's suicide had been prevented? How might that have affected history?

Or to give comfort to Washington at Valley Forge, letting him know that US forces would win. But he'd probably think you were nuts.

Who wants to be a WW II fighter pilot?

If you can find a copy, Chad Oliver wrote a book in the early 1950's about a teen who did go back in time, to 50,000BC. It's, "Mists of Dawn", and was my introduction to time travel. An interesting theme.

I agree with you. I forget who said it, but some Science-type said that if he COULD time-travel he would travel no further back than the invention of antibiotics. After living 20 years in Mexico, I certainly agree with that. Heck, it was hard enough back when the water wasn't chlorinated here (like, uh, 8 years ago and more) even WITH antibiotics because the food could really hurt you. If the knife they used to cut your watermelon was just rinsed in the dirty tap water and not thoroughly dried -- well, you were in for it. It happened a LOT.

I can't imagine going any distance back in time would be a lot cleaner. There's a lot I'd like to see from the past, but I'll let braver souls with stronger stomachs than me go back and film it for me. 25 years seems about fine and I will try not to meet myself and cause any paradoxes. Or is that paradoxi?

Knowing what I know now?I'd never come back.Late'50s for me.Old guns were priced right and Detroit iron ruled the road. There was still respect for the law (for the most part) and people were productive.

"Made in America"actually counted for something. In my book it still counts.

I often thought about going back in just my lifetime to be able to correct some of my many mistakes so I wouldnt have had to go through some of the painfull and costly things I went through. But on thinking it out, I belive I may have bypassed some things, but it would have left things open to probley make worse mistakes!
I stupidly put myself through a lot, and the lord got me out of them.

Back to 1975 when I left home for college. I would hide my baseball cards from the 50s and 60s better so my mom couldn't throw them out when she cleaned up my room.
