I confess - I did not reach for my Smith

My straight razor is rusty. Tetanus value.

I wasn't too worried about things, but I made sure that the batteries in the Eotech that lives atop my M4 clone were fresh.

Yes, you are all correct. It's a Remington 870. Brain Cramp!! :o Probably too late to go back and edit it now...

Anyway, I'm off to the Cashmere gun show today. We'll see if I have anything new with me on the way home.

Stay safe everyone.

I live nowhere near Irene but my go to guns habitually are my 642 and my 870 (Remington).... :-)

Three weeks ago there was an armed robbery of a local pharmacy and the culprit was deemed to be on foot in our area. The Sheriff's dept. informed the locals to remain inside and keep our doors locked.

I have plenty of other bigger badder firearms to choose from but my 642 slipped into my front pocket and my 870 brimming with buckshot went behind the door in the mud room.

The 642 is an easy carry. It is simple and quick and should prove enough of an impediment to an adversary to allow me to get to my 870 which is also simple and quick. Once I get to my 870 I will probably have to call a decorator to fix up the wall paper and trim......then I'll call the Sheriff and the ambulance.

P.S. The Armed robber was found a mile from my house. He had expired due to an oxycontin overindulgence.

Here in New Jersey, getting ready for Irene I did not reach for my 27-2 or my pre-27. Instead I readied up my Sig P226 in .40 S&W.

I hope I do not get voted off the Forum.

Stay safe this weekend.

Across the river in DE from you but thinking alike - had my Glock 23 close by - now that might REALLY get me voted off. May change next time tho - am picking up my Sig 226 /40 on Tues :D

I'm in NY at my dad's...all we have is his DS with 6 extra rounds...and they aren't even in a speedloader....they're loose in the china closet drawer....:(

I'm here in Jersey too...but all I reached for while waiting for the storm was Jack Daniels. I probably couldn't have even fought off a looter, maybe ask him in for a drink and a few pretzels.

Here in the Philly suburbs it was a 2 inch 64 and a cheap LED flashlight. More than adequate for the Irene non event.

Here in the wilds of NW NJ the hurricane just seemed like a rainy night. I didn't hear any wind gusts that would attract any attention or concern. Down the shore it might be a different story. I have only heard reports of one or two deaths in NJ so far. This far west there was no need for "special preperations".

Being from taxachuetts on the south coast I rely on my Model 28 .357 to protect me and family.Stay Safe

That's some interesting history on the RG...I always thought it stood for "Real Gun"...because of the superior fit and finish.

All of my Level I working guns are S&W products. Level I means the gun is intended for personal, close range self defense and must be suitable for concealed carry.

A Model 659 9mm lives in my truck and sometimes goes out with me. A 2.5" M19-3 is a frequent carry gun. A Model 40 serves this role as well on occasion and lives in my computer desk drawer. A 2" M64 resides in the nightstand drawer.

In case you're wondering, Level II is where the ante is upped and concealment is no longer an issue. Protecting my home from looters and other miscreants during and following a natural disaster is a good example. That would be when the 20" Mossberg 500 comes out loaded with 00 buck and slugs in reserve. The 659 goes on the belt at that point.

Level III means the fecal matter has struck the circulating cooling device and some offensive tactics may be required in the name of self preservation. In the unlikely and truly horrible event this happens, my little friend is the FN FAL.

For extreme close quarter nastiness this will work:

im not near the irene storm but if i were i would reach for the only handgun i currently own my second generation glock 17.

I like Saxon Pig's classification syatem. Class II (as in Katrina) included an 870, a Mini 14 and a Berette 92 in my suburban. That Beretta has been through Andrew, Kartina Rita and Ike on my hip. My son now has it.
Don't worry-I have am MP-9 and a 1911 to replace it:D)
