I finally did it

Mine went in the swimming pool about ten years ago. I put it on the woodstove to dry out when I wasn't burning hot. It eventually recovered, but on rainy days the display would do very odd things. I am hard to convince that something is useless, but it got replaced within the year.

I once lost a Motorola razor in a glass of milk. I was carrying a glass of milk with phone palmed above the glass - hot chocolate chip cookies in the other hand - kerplunk. It was my favorite phone :(

My son washed several over the years. I tried the rice thing, but they never worked again. I washed just one myself - a Galaxy S5. It was one of, if not the, first waterproof phone. It survived completely unscathed.

I washed my keyboard with a Coke about a month ago. Then I watched it die a slow death, one letter at a time over four days.
I justified my stupidity with the thought "well, it was four years old and dirty" as I ordered a new one.
Graydon, I hope your phone comes back so you don't lose your contacts. Reloading all that manually is a real pain. Don't ask me how I know that.

I never ran one through the washer but soaked one when i dumped a canoe. I took the battery out, put it on the dash of the truck & tried rice for a few days when we got home... nope. Then after buying a new one a month or 3 later the old one & battery suddenly was ok again...

i just washed my 8 year old flip phone ,2 months ago ,it half way worked ,but would not recharge,or call out ,went ahead and got a smart phone ,iam on sprint ,and there cell towers wont work with the older phones come fall 2021 , they got bought by T-Mobile ,and will change equipment ,

Never washed one but placed my new iPhone on a coffee warmer that was on my desk not realizing the warmer was on. Some time later I went to pick up phone and burned my fingers. The phone was so hot I had to use a hot pad to pick it up. Not knowing what else to do I put the phone in the refrigerator while I went on line looking for a good price on a new phone. Two hours later I pulled the phone out and it booted right up. Been 6 months and it still works just fine. Would have bet money that phone was toast.

After several hours with the hair dryer and being hooked up to the charger I have light and the words battery charging. The screens show no moisture but the inside screen has water stains on it. So far I have not figured out how to get there.
I am putting it back on the dryer until I get the rice. My hope is that my great grandson, who i will see tomorrow and who is good with electronics, might be able to help. I will probably end up having to get a new phone. I will really miss this one, it is so small and easy to slip in your pocket.
When I walk into my apt. the first thing that I do is unload my pockets. What happened this time is my that phone was in a nylon jacket pocket that didn't get checked before I washed it.

It's now nicely covered with rice. I can't see anything wrong with letting the whole mess be kept warm with the hair dryer on low heat. What do you wet phone experts think?
