I finally joined the model 28 club!

Those are 3 nice looking 28's, Pete. And you are right about being a relative bargain. I got both of these for a little less than I paid for my nickel 29-2 in November.

I should have my 6" 1965 S2512xx next Friday. Another lightly fired fine example, with matching stocks

I do believe that the days of finding nice examples like we have in that 6 to 7 hundred dollar range are coming to an end. I think i have enough though to last me.

Pics when i get it

As far as feel goes, not much difference at all, Babysitr. They handle and feel pretty much the same as my 27's and they should, since they basically are a stripped down 27 with no fancy added. The biggest difference I notice is the color of the gun, since all my 27's but 1 are nickel plated guns.

One thing I might do though is buy some bright fingernail polish and put some on the top of the front sight blade though. I find it is a bit harder to pick up the front sight with my old eyes over the nickel front sights and my one blue 27 has a gold bead front sight which is real easy to pick up on.

Muddock, glad they shot good! they are a pleasure to own/shoot...you sure are making my 4" lonely...there is room in my safe for a 6"!!...can you tell much difference from shooting one of your 27's???

I paced an ad in the WTB section for a 4 or 6' for my son. I had several replies, but many were collector grade. i did not want that. I got a 97% shooter 6 " coming. 1965. Took about 3 weeks or so.

My suggestion is if you want a 6" get it now, and if you can, use a forum member. You can coverse better with somebody from our forum. Just my opinion. However, haaving said that, i would move on it now. Like Mud said, these are plain Jane 27's, and as the 27's start to move out of sight in price, these are creeping up accordingly. Buying a 28 now is the best bang for your buck you can get right now, IMHO

Yeah, I can totally agree with Pete about moving soon before prices rise more. While I was looking on GB I noticed that a lot of the nicer shooter grade guns were starting at least $600 and up. The 2 I bought I got at the minimum bid and was lucky that nobody bid against me. I got the 4" for $625 and the 6" for $600.

BTW, those Herrett stocks that came with the 6" felt really good, which makes the cost of the gun look even better since I don't have to go buy some better feeling stocks for that gun. And the 4" felt like someone had put some time in it slicking up the action too. It feels really sweet.
