My point is that, you can buy a brand new 4" 629 for around $1,000, maybe slightly less, but not much. This is for a bare bones model with hogues and no non-standard options.
You can find quite a few 629 no dash's in 98% condition for less than that. Maybe without box and papers, but none the less. That is what I was getting at.
I dont fool with the term "worth", because as is pointed out, people pay stupid amounts of money for their "grail gun" if they find one. Like the Model 28 which went for over $2500 recently or the model 60 that went for $4000. "Worth" is a very personal and objective term that really has no place in the free market of buying and selling guns. Because heaven forbid what you are looking for at the moment is also somebody's "flavor of the month", they will pay whatever their credit limit is for it, and that has nothing to do with it's normal value in the market.
The point is, right now, the market is valuing a 629 no dash considerably less than a new one. Based on average used prices of guns SOLD on gun broker.
"Worth", that's for you to decide.
If I was gonna shoot one a lot, I would get a 629-4 rather than a no dash, and this is coming from the owner of a no dash, which I really like!
To the OP's question, despite the deal I got, I think $700 is an acceptable price.
