I frame 5 shot snub in .327 Magnum

I'm a big fan of pocket guns for defense, and while the J frame can fit in many pockets, a slightly smaller version would be ideal. How about a five shot, .327 Federal Magnum build on a slightly smaller frame than the J?
With the super compact .380 craze in full swing, this could be a great choice for revolver fans who want a super deep concealment gun but don't want to drop down to a North American Arms .22 Mag.

Don't think it would work, as the J frame was introduced in 1950 because the I frame was too short for the .38 special.

Of course it would work, they would just have to make the frame and cylinder a little longer;~)

I think this gun would be super cool, though I think with todays materials you could do something even smaller then the I frame if you were going to do it with the .327 The pressure on this round is pretty damn high....Would be a cool little wheel gun. I have a .32 Mag PD version, one thing cool in the J sized gun in .32 is you get six shots. My problem with the J size gun is its just to wide. I end up carrying my Colt Mustang and Ruger LCP just because they are so flat.Flat equals comfort for me.

I'm with you Pontiaker. The J frame is just too wide for most pocket carry (cargo pants aside) a thinner option in a snubby would be great. I don't need the 6th round, just a flatter five shot snubby in an effective caliber. I figured we would have seen something introduced by Ruger but I'd much rather have a Smith.

I frame

I have an I frame 32 long.and I cannot see it in any more than a 32 as no way can you make the cylinder stronger no matter what steel you use.
you dont need a 44 for self defence you need to hit a vital spot.and that will do the job regardless of the caliber.

I could swear they make that,a 5 shot J frame 357 magnum, guy at a range I use to go to had one but maybe it was a K frame, it was really small. I also saw one of those really light alloys at the LGS a few weeks ago that was a 5 shot 357 and it was as small as my J frame model 36, now it certainly would not be fun shooting that thing at all!

The J Frame was stretched quite a few years ago, to accommodate the .357. Originals were maxed at .38 Special length. No way an I Frame would be able to accommodate a .327, and the pressure & recoil would be nearly uncontrollable in an I Frame. Much higher pressure than a .357. That's why they put a ported barrel on the J frame when they brought it out in .327.
