It would be earlier than this forum.

One of the folks who tracks these will be along shortly with an estimated shipping date for you. Probably no later than '53.

Is it a square or round butt? If square it's a .32 Regulation Police, and if round it's a .32 Hand Ejector.

We like photos.

Sorry my computer does not want to cooperate with attaching pics on this site, don't know why

Thank you Toyman, I just wish I can get it narrowed down a bit more.

My 32 HE, 539695, shipped in November, 1949.

Your ".32 Hand Ejector" #547XXX is highly likely from June 1950 or close to it. Several in the 547XXX range are documented has having shipped in that period. The 2" model was first offered in 1949.

It's built on what collectors call a Transistional I Frame, with 6 Screws; the 6th being the tension screw in the front grip strap for the leaf mainspring.
It's only counted on the post war I frames because it's the only frame size in which the 6th screw was eliminated. This happened in 1952 when the leaf spring was replaced with a coil mainspring and it became the Improved I Frame.

Thank you all for the info, and a very big thank you to Hondo44 for the great news of it being from the first half of 1950, so its only maybe three months younger than me ! I finally got my birth year S&W and its a beauty to me !!
