I knew it would happen eventually.

I am the proud owner of a 1960's vintage Smith and Wesson Model 10-5 four-inch pencil barrel with walnut diamond grip stocks in very good condition.

Found it by accident. Had wanted one for a long time. Jumped on the opprotunity. Now sitting in a holster on my hip for CCW.

See what happens when you watch too many episodes of Adam-12, Highway Patrol, Dragnet, and old adventure movies and serials where everyone is using a Model 10?

Welcome to the M-10 club! They may not have the prestige of some of the flashier models but they do the job and do it well. Enjoy.

Ahhh the good ole days of S&W revolvers, leather swivel holsters, AMC squad cars and no body armor....

I do believe that revolver is a M14?? Later in the series, they went to M15's. Back in the day, the SDPD,(San Diego), used the M10's and the SD Sheriff used the M66, unless you were Eldon Carl or Sgt. Fred Lee,and carried a 45 Auto. In 1965, I was a reserve deputy and carried a Highway Patrolman with 38's. We were not allowed to carry magnum loads. Now, it is all semi auto's and IMHO, a far better gun for law enforcement. Big Larry

Jack Webb

Adam 12 was a Jack Webb production and Mr Webb was a fan of law enforcement and a stickler for realistic detail. It is said that the phones on the desks of the Dragnet series had the same extentions written on them as the one's at the LAPD Detective office. I would bet Officers Mcleod and Reed carried exactly what was issued to the LAPD at the time of filming a particular season.

I carried it all day today as CCW and was pleasantly suprised. It wasn't very heavy and was quite comfortable, more so than carrying my Browning High Power. Might be carrying it often.

Yeah, I can't wait to try it at the range!

There is something about a model ten.

It is all that you really need in a revolver. And there is nothing there that you do not need. If you had to go through life with one handgun. You could definately do a lot worse.
