I guess I have bad taste.....

To me, a cigar is nothing more than a controlled trash fire. If you enjoy it, good on ya.
Ah - bourbons and whiskey blends and trying different varieties is a wonderful past-time.

On a friends recommendation, I tried a small-batch Canadian blend called 'Forty Creek'. All but impossible to find here in NC (we have gov't- run liquor stores) Found mine while on vacation on Fla. It is smooth, slightly 'caramel-y', slightly 'oak-y' with a little smoke. A super-smooth finish. I made my 1/2 gal. last almost a year. It was wondeful, and not too expensive.

Other than that, my regular is 1. Wild Turkey 2. Evan Williams 3. Makers Mark.

As was noted you can't really argue "taste" anymore than you can argue religion (it comes down to faith, either you believe or you don't). I don't drink much liquor but when the urge strikes I reach for a little Crown Royal on the rocks, as it goes down very smooooth.

When my 19 year old nephew and his buddy came for a visit I told them they could drink what they liked while staying in our home. Here comes the scary/disgusting part... They went to the kitchen and fixed the following:

Large glass, three fingers of Crown Royal, fill to the top with...(I can hardly type this)....warm Dr. Pepper, no ice! They each had one of these almost every night after dinner. If I had no seen it I wouldn't believe it. Oh, the humanity!!!

That just sent shivers down my spine. Every so often a waitress will screw up bring me a Scotch & 7-up instead of Scotch & Soda-I tell you that first sip definately crosses your eyes  (down here when you say soda water they think you mean coke or 7 up-as in "gimme a sodawada" :rolleyes" you have to say club soda-not soda water, not soda. But once you get the local dialect down you're good to go

A good sipping rum to go along with a cigar: Flor de Cana: Centenario. There are three Centenarios from Flor de Cana ranging from 12 to 18 years aged. These deeply aged rums are intended to be served neat or on the rocks. The 15 year old Flor de Cana Centenario is probably perfect evening stogie compliment: carmel-like and moderately sweet, it has an almost tobacco-like toasty flavor...

havana club dark with a partagas SD4 or partagas torpedo. either cigar at least 4yrs. old and properly stored.

I enjoy a wee nip of Irish whiskey from time to time and usually what I consider the better stuff such as Jameson or Bushmills. I have a brother who is Scotch aficionado and we once decided to try a brand called Laphroaig - wow.

Those familiar with the Isley scotches will know and appreciate new meaning to harsh, earthy-tasting, peat smoked whisky. If I had to describe the taste, it would be freshly dug, moist soil and camp fire smoke. I still have the bottle which is now a little less than half full. Every once in a great while when I feel up to the challenge, I pour myself a little bit over ice (trust me, it needs it) and soon remember why it continues to languish in the liquor cabinet.

For me, it's whiskey with an "e" - bourbons are too sweet and I've often found taste too much like Flintstones vitamins.
