I had an acquaintance ask for ammo

I have taken training where we expended over 500 rounds in a couple 3 hour sessions. And some classes require you come with at least 1000 rounds. (Gunsite)

I too have been at training days with 400-500 rounds expended per session, but the "need" for this to be higher priced expanding bullet ammunition (formerly 50-70 cents, now $2/round) seems to be a bit much.

According to another former neighbor who attends the same church this man and two others are no longer on the security team for age and health reasons. I guess he just wanted to hang out with the other guys and shoot some.

I also have shot in high round count training including Gunsite. But everyone has always used ball or cheap steel case.

Training and re-quals are separate things; depending on the training, it can be hundreds to thousands of rounds over one or several days, but formal re-quals in most cases don't pass 100, often less.

And the "church security team" doesn't need SD ammo for whatever home-brew re-qual they're doing.

I do some legal work for an LGS and told them to pay me in 9mm ammunition. They asked me where to send the check - THAT'S how tight ammunition is presently.

I recently sold an old Colt Police Positive to a friend. I gave him 6 rounds of ammunition to go with it. :D

For self defense 6 rounds is probably enough because after 6 shots it will be over one way or the other. When the law gets there they will take the gun. Larry

I guess he felt he deserved only the best at a five finger discount. Sad to see how crappy people can be.

I've had people ask to buy some before, they get told no, but I'm open to trades, worked out well a few times.

The best one is some stranger at the range wanting to try out my gun. Worst instance was a guy wanting to try my eagle, he had a sr1911, said I'll trade you round for round, he said "nobody but me shoots my $&@#," in a real snobby tone. I said "well, 44's ain't free and I'm not a charitable person, so take your mooching @#$ back over there." Either he had a cooler head or the veins starting to pop out of my neck done it, but he clammed up and went back to his table. That was several years ago.

Had times where kids ask, as long as the parent is ok, they can try a 22. Several safety lessons were taught during those times as well.

I do NOT do religion, and I am surprised that this thread has been allowed to continue for nearly 40-posts. Follow the rules people.

This thread is not about religion; it is about a moocher, an ungrateful one at that. He could be on the security team for upcoming Girl Scout Cookie sales, that wasn't the point. I offered him a box of 9mm with an $8.99 price tag and he felt slighted. It turned out he is no longer part of the security team. Perhaps he considers himself an alternate.

Or he was trying to get ammo for the current team members, hence the quantity.

Or he was using it as cover to get ammo to re-sell.

Regardless he should have been upfront about not being a member of the team any more. I'll call that a lie. Lies make me highly suspicious.

We have threads all the time about church security teams. We even have regular prayer request threads. Sometimes the occasional Bible verse sneaks in, as it has here, but the thread is about lying to get ammunition, which that nice fella' shouldn't have done . . .

CORRECT- it is about a moocher, not religion. However, five deleted posters just could not resist making it about religion. I'll forgo dings this time and just close this thread. If your post is deleted, you are part of the reason this thread is closed. Read the rules.

Bible verses should not sneak in.
