I've had a wheel barrow full of nice handguns over the last half century and though the 1911 and the Smith revolvers have always been favorites, my "go to" defensive handgun was a cheap Witness .40 pistol. It was a CZ-75 clone I bought around 1988 and it was perfectly reliable, very accurate, and I used it in IPSC competition through thousands and thousands of rounds. It never failed me but for some strange reason I sold it a couple of years ago and tried about everything else out there, and figured out fast that I don't have any desire for polymer, aluminum alloy, or striker fired guns. So I started looking for CZ-75 pistols in .40 caliber and found out they are hard to find and they come with two magazines but they only hold 10 rounds though twelve round magazines are available that are the same size. Well, I've never been a fan of the 9m/m but the new +P+ rounds are pretty close to the .40 in power, and I found a new CZ 75 9m/m Omega for only $419 shipped so I snagged it. I took it to the plate rack at my range today and I cleared those plates so fast it put a big ole' grin on my face! That "all steel" gun is pretty heavy with 17 rounds in it but the front sight just barely moves when you shoot it fast. The trigger is a bit stiff in DA but I have a pretty strong trigger finger and the single action pull breaks with no overtravel at about 3lbs. Looks like all I need now is a good holster and some nice wood grips.
