Lyman TP gauge
OK, it's been a while since I used my Lyman gauge so I went downstairs and checked it out.
Model 25-2 competition revolver bought used:
SA pull, 2# 11 oz, 2# 11 , 2# 13. DA pull, 8# 7oz, 8# 11, 8# 9.
S&W 686-2: SA 3# 10, 3# 7, 3# 9. DA 11# 7, 11# 5, 11# 10.
Dumbbell 8# wt: 8# 7 oz , 8# 7, 8# 7. The cord used to hold weight, .9oz.
Very consistent lift up weight.
The hardest part of the procedure is getting a consistent place to pull the
trigger with the Lyman hook, and holding the handgun steady during the
trigger pull. I clamped my revolvers in a cleaning stand and after playing
around a while got consistent pulls. Also, you need to try and pull straight back on the trigger like when you are shooting. The gauge is much easier to use on rifles, especially those with target triggers in the ounces.
This was the first time I actually checked the gauge with a weight, and of
course who knows how close the dumbbell is to "8 lbs" ?
Thanks for getting me off the couch tonight; now I will need to check all my stuff so I have a record of everything.
