I have Sambar fever

Hey curly, really like the color of those Stags have you ever put Ren Wax on them. Bet they would really pop and shine. I use Ren Wax on all my Sambar Stag....................................M*

Thanks for your kind words.

They are just the way they came to me. I haven't tried wax or other coatings. Maybe I should try it.

I had a pair kinda like that except for a N frame. I got offered 3 times what I paid for them, so had to let them go!

I agree. Sambar Stag has a look that just sets it apart. Yea, Elk, Buffalo and other horns look nice, but there's nothing like genuine Sambar IMO.

Tough to get the real deal anymore - since the importation has been either stopped or severely limited.

This was one of the very few times my efforts to give elk a "sambar" look turned out well. The Ruger Mark 2 and the grips are in my "keepers" :).
I currently have NO sambar on my guns. It's not that I don't LOVE sambar. My elk get too jealous. It's like inviting Sofia Vergara to have dinner with you and your wife. Your wife may be cute, but she sure is NOT going to feel happy sitting next to Sofia :)

OOPS ! ... I apologize for the "thread drift" ... All the gorgeous sambar here was making my head spin .......

Unfortunately, my Sambar Stag fever started too late in life to be able to get and afford the really nice ones for gun grips. But, this caused me to branch out into knives. Check some of these out. The first picture is various Case knives. The second picture is a matched serial numbered set from around 1980 with scrolled bolsters. I also have a decent number of Great Eastern Cutlery knives with Sambar Stag handles, but unfortunately, they aren’t in a group picture. Great Eastern still gets some fantastic Sambar Stag, but it is very difficult to get their knives these days.:(
