I would like to asked if it cost much to have a S&W 40VE cleaned at a gun shop ? I remember in boot camp the first piece you take off is the last piece you put back on. But that's been over forty years,I paid to much money to screw it up trying to disassemble and reassembling my 40. Thanks

I was in the same boat. Their really pretty simple and it will come back to you. Almost every gun has a You Tube how to that will show how to tear your gun down. Google is your friend.

Average price around where I live for a detail strip and clean at a gun shop is plus/minus $40.

But really, for just normal after-shooting cleanups, your Smith should break down in about three steps and in less than 60 seconds, and go back together in the same amount of time. That's about how long it takes me to take down a Glock, and they basically use the same procedure, I think.

If I can do it, anyone can do it. Seriously.
