I join the Sig Sauer Family.

I don't know about the adoption process or joining a family, but I have some history with Sig-Sauer pistols.

About 20 years ago I needed a small pistol for very discreet carry when working (and the bosses were hyper sensitive to public perceptions). Picked up a P232 .380, 16 oz. empty weight, easily concealed under a shirt tail. Very accurate and easy to shoot well. Excellent design overall.

Next came a West German police trade-in P6 pistol. Single-stack 9mm, very compact, excellent shooter (although very well worn when it came to me). Outstanding pistol, wish I had not let it get away.

A trade deal brought in a West German P220 .45. Impressive pistol, relatively easy to shoot well. Overall, I found it to be just too large and cumbersome for daily carry, so I let it go (at a small profit).

Late last year I caught a deal on a Sig P229 .40S&W decocker, German frame made in the US facility, police department trade-in gun. Sig runs these through the shop to test every part, replace anything worn or deficient, full refinishing to factory standard, shipped out in a "red box" with full one-year warranty. MSRP at the time was $1087 for a new one, I got this one for $430 delivered to my local dealer. Excellent shooter! I really like the decocker feature.

Maybe one of these days I will warm up to the polymer-framed guns, but for now I much prefer solid steel and proven alloy frames.

I suppose that if there was one "perfect pistol" the rest would be retired and nothing else available. For me, there are still some good oldies that deserve respect.

Nice deal! While I prefer the old P series, hammer fired Sigs, and feel well heeled with a P239 9mm on my hip, or a 642 S&W in my pocket, were I to buy a striker fired for cc, it would definitely be a Sig 365.

Sig guns

In the late 1980's out department switched over to Sig 40 cal guns. I carried that gun for a couple of months but it ripped my suit coat linings up. I gave it back to the Chief and bought a Glock 33, had a thumb safety installed on it and I carried for more than 5 years, until I retired. I bought a Sig 365 and its one of the nicest guns that I own. Its small, very accurate and hold 10-12 rounds. When they brought the one out with the safety I bought that model, and carry it every day. Great guns, I have the one with out the safety for sale now, just waiting for somebody interested to come along. Asking $450.00 with the box, 2 magazines etc.

I've got 5 sigs (220 in 9, 220 in 45, p6, 229, 245, and 226 elite) and still like carrying my cs9 or 4513 tsw. Had 320 but trigger was too lite and no safety.

My only caution: beware the signess...before you know it you'll have a safe full of them

I bought my first a couple of months after they came out. Now 7000 rouinds strong. Bought my second three months after the first. My wife shot the second one with good results but wished it had a laser for home defense,
Poof, that was easy,

Congratulations!
I really like mine. Its my EDC w/ 12 round magazine.. Also picked up the 365XL recently. I want to put a few more rounds through it, then will probably switch to the XL for EDC. Ergonomics work well for me.

365XL vs Glock 43 for size comparison -

Thanks for the size comparison, I use a Glock 26 - about the same size as the 365XL. The selling point for the 26 was that it would emulate the trigger on my Glock 19 and could use those 15 round magazines.

Now that I have tried the 365's trigger, being in retirement I may have to reassess.

I own two Sig Sauer pistols.
I have a P320 and P365.
The 320 is a 9mm subcompact model.

365 is the NRA serial number gun. The 365 trigger has a crisp feel. The pistol disappears on my belt or in my pocket.
