I know... another 5906

This is the 1st center-fire S&W I have ever owned. (61 yrs. old) Have K's, L's, & N's though. I got it in a trade last night. Too much into it, but I really like it. Appears to be polished (OK by me) I got the red paint off the sight dots, and cleaned it up. Wish the original grips were there. There is VERY little signs of wear anywhere. Not beat up at all. There are 2 S&W 15 rd. magazines. Now can't wait to shoot it!
Pics are not too good but you will get the idea. Any thoughts? Bob

Nice pick-up. I'm a little older than you and I got my 5906 a couple of months ago and I love it! I think you are going to like it a lot. Let us know how you like shooting it.

It cleaned up really nice! I'm not big on polished guns, especially the matte finished stainless 3rd gens, but yours looks nice! Not too shiny. Enjoy!

If you check BG and eBay, you can probably come up with a set of factory grips. The Houges are just too thick for my liking.

I bought a new 5906 in 1994, absolutely love it, and have since added four more, including a couple really rough LE trade-ins, which I cleaned up and re-bead blasted to like new condition. That's the beauty of the all stainless pistols, tough as nails and easy to refinish.

They're really, really nice pistols. The only downfall (in my opinion) is parts availability--or lack thereof. They have that Americana feel, and it's refreshing to own non-plastic handguns, what with all the hype these day about weight savings and micro guns. Don't get me wrong...I own two Glocks...but I also love my Smith's.

As far as finding parts goes I have been lucky that I never had to replace parts on any of my guns. I did do springs, extractor, & firing pin on a 1911, but that was to make it better. (not really needed) I have never had to resort to a gunsmith for any weapon either. Today is Friday the 13th. I hope I did not jinx myself! Bob

5906 went to the range today. Gun functioned FLAWLESSLY! Felt good, what recoil? (none to me) My shooting buddy really liked it too. Now I need to take it back and put shots on paper. Just shot steel plates today.
Another gun I won't part with. Bob
